Abelhas (isto é sem dúvida um tópico do afins...)

Na Scientific American de Fevereiro (que eu só tive oportunidade de ler este mês) deparei-me com a seguinte notícia: "Honeybees can learn to recognize faces. Adrian G. Dyer of the University of Cambridge and his colleagues trained the bees by getting insects to associate black-and-white mug shots with a sweet reward (...) or with a bitter punishment (...). The bees hovered two or three inches from the photographs before correctly landing near the "reward face" 80 to 90 percent of the time. (...) The results demonstrate that face recognition, witch might seem to be a sophisticated neural ability, does not need much brainpower - bees have less than 0.01% the neurons that human do.". Ora aqui está uma notícia que eu li e que me deixou boquiaberta. Mas para que raio é que uma coisa desta servirá? Não anda por aí ninguém a atacar abelhas! É para este tipo de investigação, que prova que os Humanos não são assim tão especiais, que andamos a pagar impostos?
